The concept of the half-life of a radioactive isotope allows geophysicists to estimate the age of the Earth, archaeologists to estimate the ages of fossils and artefacts, and medical staff to diagnose and treat a range of conditions both safely and effectively.  Sadly, it’s a topic which is often misunderstood (and occasionally hated) by GCSE students, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  Watch, relax and enjoy.
