Description

Positively charged ions are called cations, almost always metal ions except for H+ and NH4+. In this video, we look at two types of tests that can be used to identify a variety of different metal ions (cations): flame tests; and the addition of aqueous sodium hydroxide. The material covered in this video is also relevant to the core activity for this topic, which is covered in more detail in the next video “Tests for negative ions”.
