Tests for cations

Description

Cations are positively charged ions, almost always metal ions. In this video, we look at two types of tests that can be used to identify a variety of different metal ions (cations): flame tests; and the addition of aqueous sodium hydroxide. The material covered in this video is also relevant to the practical activity for this topic, which is covered in more detail in the next video “Tests for anions”.
